Head trainer Kim Cullip attended a two-week long summer horse camp when she was six years old, where she fell in love with riding. As she grew up, Kim spent hours at the barn riding any horse she could. Her hard work and dedication was rewarded with many championships throughout her showing career. In 2004, she moved from her hometown of Bakersfield to San Diego to attend college, where she joined the UCSD Equestrian Team. There, Kim gained knowledge, experience, and versatility as she served as team captain for three years and qualified for the intercollegiate nationals her senior year. Since graduating from college in 2008 with a degree in Management Science, Kim joined the Royal Oak team as an full-time assistant, where she learned the ins & outs of the business and gained success throughout the county & national levels. She has a gift for bringing out the best in the young riders and ponies. Twice in recent years, she has brought riders from walk-trot to top ten USEF Pony Finals successes. After working side-by-side with Wanda Weldy for 12 years, Kim took over the Royal Oak business in 2019. She continues to spread her love of the sport to the kids and their horses & ponies, while teaching the philosophy that hard work, perseverance, and fun are always the keys to success! The most rewarding aspect of teaching is watching the students fall in love and truly appreciate the horses they work with and the bond that they build together.
